What Year Is My Golf Cart?

This is not a very easy question to find the answer to for most golf cart owners. But you will find bellow an easy to use reference when you are trying to locate the year of your golf cart. When you know where to look it is quite easy. And if you know what you have when you find the reference numbers it is even easier.

Here we have listed the locations of where serial numbers can be found on several different makes of golf carts. Not only can you find the serial number, now with the help of LVS Golf Cart Parts you can read that number and determine the year of your golf cart.

Club Car

Club Car Logo® Club Car is one of the few golf cart companies that does not change to many things in its design. The cart has virtually the same since 1981-2004. On all of your Club Cars from 1981-2000½ the serial could be found under the glove box area on the passenger side of the cart. This number is made up of a sequence of letters and numbers. When you locate this number it will begin with a letter or a set of letters. Ignore these letters and the following two number signify the year the cart was produced.

If you happen to have a Club Car that is older than 1981 then the serial number is found in a different location than described above. First, you can always tell if you have on of these older Club Cars by the breaking system. The pre-1981 Club Cars have two brake pedals and gas/accelerator pedal. If this is the case on your cart then yes, you have a pre-1981 golf cart. On these older model carts the plate that contains the serial number can be located mounted to the frame near the batteries on the drivers side of the cart. As in most cases with these older carts that plate is not longer and you cannot determine the exact year of the cart other than looking at the breaking system at which time you will know if it was manufactured between the years of 1975-1981.

EZ-GO

EZ-GO Logo® From 1988-Present there are basically 3 different models of EZ-GO: Marathon, Medalist, & TXT. Are three models are easily distinguished at a glance. First the Marathon 1988-1994½ has a metal body, two separate seat backs, a black plastic front cowl cover/bumper, and the top does not have handles. The Medalist 1994½-1995 also has a metal bowl, a front plastic cowl cover/bumper (much smaller than that of the Marathon), a single piece seat back, and the top has handles. And the TXT 1996-Present models also have a single seat back, no plastic cowl cover/bumper, completely plastic body, and the top has handles.

For the earlier 1976-93 model EZ-GO carts the serial number plate can be located under the glove box next to the foot resting area on the passenger side of the cart. On this plate you see the serial number and manufacturers code. The year of the cart is found in the manufacturers code number. This number will have at least one letter followed by 3 to 5 numbers. Unfortunately over the years the exact sequence of these numbers changed quite often during manufacturing and labeling so it is impossible to actually tell which which part of this serial number signifies the year of the cart. But in most cases it is quit obvious which two sequential numbers in the sequence identifies the year of your cart. (ex: A-32792) Looking at the example here we know the cart is not a 1932 model and based on the appearance of the cart we (described above) we know it is not a 1992 model cart so the only logical answer for the year of this example is a 1979 cart.

For the later Medalist and TXT models the identification is the same as mentioned for the earlier models except the actual location of the plate. On the later model carts the plate is located inside the glove box area on the passenger side of the cart. Once you locate this plate follow the directions for determining the year of cart as described for the earlier models.

Yamaha

EZ-GO Logo® With they Yamaha golf carts it is simply best to locate the serial number then contact us by email with your serial number to get the year and model of your golf cart. We will explain to you where this elusive Yamaha serial can be located but by that number alone you will not be able to tell the the year and model of the cart unless you were in possession of the long list of Yamaha serial numbers.

The early model G1 is the easiest to determine at least what model it is. It is the only golf that when you need to access your batteries or engine you pull the release lever and raise the entire rear section of the golf cart including the top. If you have cart like this you at least know that you have a G1 model. The serial number for these carts can be located stamped on the frame near the rear bumper.

If you have G2-G11 model the serial can be found in the same place as the early G1 models. Stamped on the frame near the rear bumper or it may be located under the seat compartment where the front floor panel joins the under seat compartment. The G2-G9 models are a bit different than the early G1 models. They look the same but to access the engine and/or batteries you pull the release lever and the bottom of the front seat and the body part it is mounted to leans to the front of the cart.

If you have one of the new model carts that have a more rounded appearance to them and the bodies are plastic and not fiberglass like the earlier models you have a G14-G22 model. The serial number on these cart are quit easy to spot. When sitting in the seat on the drivers side of the cart you will notice a small plate/sticker running along the rubber molding around the edge of the front body section of the cart.

Not what they use to be

Golf carts and golf car owners are not what they use to be. The golf cart has evolved from a vehicle simply used on the golf course and become vehicles for all sorts of usage. If you are a modern 'Golf Cart Extremist' using your cart for hunting, racing, hauling, off-roading, impressing or if you simply use your cart for a neighborhood vehicle or at the course, LVS Golf Cart Parts has what you are looking for.
